Yes, either Yates really did half-ass this movie, or he REALLY is that incompetent. I think it is the latter.
I must admit the Dan, Emma, and Rupert's acting has very much improved in this film.
SO...Was it REALLY Yates' directorial vision to create such an AWKWARD, WEIRD, and CRINGE-INDUCING film? Was it his direction that rendered these characters into complete one-dimensional caricatures???
-NO explanation/development of Snape as the "Half Blood Prince" besides one measly line that literally came out of no where. How did Snape even know Harry was wondering about this HBP? The movie didn't even develop Harry's fascination w/ this HBP- carrying around the book does not constitute such. Anyways, JKR protrayed a completely different side to Snape by inviting us into his past, the reasons for his inner torment. Snape is a wonderfully complex character. Yet the movie skipped over it completely. How are we supposed to sympathize with this character in the last book if he has been turned into a 1-D "evil" character???
-Dumbledore was once again completely OUT OF CHARACTER. I blame both the actor and the director. I could go on with this. Oh, and since when did Dumbledore start inquiring Harry about his "love" life??? Oh is it because Yates thought he should suddenly be interested in romance bc he is GAY? OMG KILL ME NOW.
-AWKWARD, utterly UNNECCARILY drawn out "sexual tension/interplay" and "romance." Wow, i didn't realize I payed to watch a painfully executed "romcom" about Harry & Ginny, Hermoine/Ron/Lavender/That Blond Guy. CUT ALL THAT SHIT OUT and film scenes that are crucial to the book's STORYLINE... such as MORE HBP stuff... Correct me if I am wrong, but the movie is called "Harry Potter AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE," right? No, the director thought it was smart to demote that crucial part of the book and cram all that in 15 minutes. Even Dumbledore's death was completely glanced over. WAY TO KILL OFF ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CHARACTERS IN THE SERIES. I can only imagine how pitiful Snape's death will be...
I have more to say, but I'll leave it at that.
Though it was a terrible film that disgraces JKR's book, I found myself simultaneously laughing & cringing at its overall ridiculousness. sigh...
Oh and...

Summer Boredom
WoW my summer is .....
Out-of-my-mind boring. unemployed. Couldn't find a job even if it killed me.
Suffering MAJOR [H]ouse withdrawals.
All I do is Gym, eat, go on the internet, watch movies/TV, sleep. Damn, people cannot know how uneventful my life is. But I make it this way so I can not complain. I am not the most exciting person. LaLaLa...
I'm such an unproductive human being. That is what I am.
I find myself wasting time on the internet trend-topicing things like Betty White?!?! or bashing people like Shia Labeouf on Imdb?!!?! or spending hours perusing House message boards (no shame there tho). I effed up my chance to see the House gang in LA. I call myself a real fan?! I am not deserving.
I'm so excited for the new season. Sometimes I just sit and daydream about it.
I'm a sadd person lol
Anyways, today is Alyssa's Bday!!! Happy Birthday chica!

Natasha Richardson
My last post was over a month ago. About 3 weeks ago, Natasha Richardson passed away. It really affected me. Most people probably wouldn't understand why, probably think I'm stupid for caring so much because I didn't know her.
Sadly, a lot of people that die took life for granted and didn't truly love life. But, Natasha Richardson was an incredibly vivacious woman who appreciated everything she had, especially after the near death of her husband, Liam Neeson many years ago (and the death of her father to AIDS early in life).
Anyways, I feel incredibly saddened for Liam. If one is ever so lucky to find and marry one's soulmate, it should be cherished. And they both did. It is a tragedy that they were separated so early in life. And her young sons, who now have to grow up without a mother.. this is all very sad. :(
And Vanessa Redgrave...sighh
anyways
I tweet sometimes lol

I Love Michael J Fox
Alex P Keaton and Marty McFly... Forever in my heart
I really hope someone finds the cure for Parkinsons Disease within his lifetime :(
MJF's resilience and courage is inspiring. I think he's raised over 150 million dollars to PD research so far.
I did not know his son goes to Stanford. Thanks to ALYSSA, I am only 3 degrees of separation from THE MJF.

EFFING AAAAAAAAA
Id Like to apologize in advance if my comments come off racist.
GAHHHHH effing Asian FOBS can be so loud, rude, and obnoxious. They are so inconsiderate of those around them. I guess in their world, no one exists except them. When you are in a studying environment, you must respect those around you... which means NOT yapping away in effing Chinese or Korean with your fob posse like no one else is there. GAHHH Everywhere I effing go, there's some fob group being loud and rude. If you tell them to quiet down, they'll glare and then make fun of you in their language once you turn away. I cannot take this. As I am writing this, in MY floor's lounge trying to read, theres a Chinese group, whom don't even live on my floor or perhaps building, yapping away. HONESTLY, SO RUUDEEEEEE. EVERY NITE. ITS EFFING QUIET HRS = SILENCE= NO TALKING. BLAH BLAH BLAH

30 ROCK
I just got hooked on 30 Rock for realzz
I love that show. It has taken over my love for The Office, which unfortunately is not funny/good anymore at all.
Yeahhh 30 Rock!!!! Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin are a force to be watched.
PS ZODIAC SUCKS. 3 HRS OF CRAP. DAVID FINCHER U SUCK! I DONT CARE HOW EFFING GOOD PPL THINK FIGHT CLUB IS! YOU SUCK. OH YEAH, BEN BUTTON ALSO SUCKS. Hey FINCHER, ya wanna see a well done murder/crime mystery film? Check out LA CONFIDENTIAL!! Gah.
PSS HOUSE IS BACK ON PPL! Mondays at 8 pm FOX
PSSS I have stopped watching House on TV. I refuse to compromise my viewing pleasure anymore. Main lounge is loud, commercials ruin the pace and flow of the show, and the television I'm watching it on is super old and crappy.
I realize, wats the point in watching shows on TV. Commercials are a big drag. Plus, you are not counted in the ratings unless you have a Nielson Box. But, like most people in the world, I am not one of the "chosen ones." So basically, there exists a small sample of Nielson household tv viewers that are supposed to be representative of the whole nation. What a jip!!!!

My Review of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
First of all, TCCOBB is nothing like the Fitzgerald short story it claims to be adapted from. The only thing they share in kind is the title and the concept of a man aging backwards.
The screenplay was written by Eric Roth- the man that gaves us the genius screenplay, Forrest Gump. It seems to me that Roth attempted to strike gold again with TCCOBB. He tried to capture the magic that FG was. Well, he failed terribly. If anything he should be committed for "self-plagerizing" and "ripping off his own work" because BB shares WAY too many similarities to FG. But this time around, it just falls flat.
Benjamin and Forrest both have disabilities that they are forced to overcome. They both should be national sensations (Button for aging backward, Gump for his various achievments). They both experience historical events up close, in a war. They both fall in love with people in their childhood that continue to elude them in their adult years. They both grow up in the South in a boarding home. etc etc etc These similarities are virtually inarguable; so if the main characters, the romance, and the adversity both of these men have to overcome are essentially identical, what makes CCBB a unique, original, curious story?
The concept of aging backwards is one huge gimmick that adds NOTHING to the story. What a joke! I go into the movie expecting to see how a man's life is affected by this condition. Had he physically looked his age, and had no strange condition, there is no reason to believe the plotlines would progress any differently. This isn't helped by the fact that Brad Pitt stayed the same the whole movie. His character at the age of 10 acted the same way as when he is 40- the same mature, emotionless detachment pervades through the whole film.
The main flaw of this movie is its characterization. Forrest Gump worked because we care about Forrest, his mother, Bubba, Lt. Dan, and Jenny. I cannot possibly see how someone could genuinely care about Button. The only manner in which I could see such a thing happening is as a result of the fact that the film focuses entirely on him for almost 3 hours, a flaw that would almost be passable if Benjamin was a fleshed out character. However, he wasn't. I did not sympathize with Benjamin in the slightest. What is his personality? What are his goals and intentions throughout the movie? Where in the movie does he show any emotion whatsoever outside of calm - mildly distraught? I cannot answer any of these three questions. Benjamin Button is an emotionless, dull character and this is almost enough to make the movie horrible on it's own and it is here that Brad Pitt fails once again as a convincing actor. oh Brad Pitt... Was he even acting in this performance, because to me, he just seemed to be there floating around, emoting no emotion, depth, or LIFE into BB. This character had potential to be memorable, but all me got was a blank expressionless face for 3 hrs. Pitt did not show how BB changed/progressed with age and life experiences. Heck, Lindsay Lohan did a better job in Freaky Friday. He failed to show any character development. What he delivered was an emotional/mentally stagnant character that obviously didn't learn anything or feel anything throughout his whole life.
Where a main character fails a supporting cast can usually make up for it, but this movie failed in that regard as well. I did not buy the love story between Daisy and BB. Their love was not developed enough. Why would young Daisy love an old man that hardly talked or whom she shared nothing in common with. They had no reason to connect in the first place. It was just forced on us and we were expected to believe it. I mean, they were apart 90% of their lives before finally "getting together"!
Also, BB's mom played by Taraji Henson was just a bit of a charicature of Mamie and Daisy's daughter was extremely two-dimensional and borderline unnecessary.
Lastly, the narrative frame was terrible and hurt the already dragging pace of the movie. Every time it flashed back to the present with the dying Daisy the movie reached a standstill, and whatever storytelling momentum that was generated earlier came to a halt.
There are a lot of other things that don't make sense, but it won't mean much if you haven't seen the movie.
Basically in 4 words this movie is: ALL STYLE, NO SUBSTANCE
BC of this, it is very easy to fall into the trap of enjoying this film and thinking it is good. The film is visually beautiful, "epic," and attempts to capture universal themes of mortality, love, life, etc etc etc. But pretty pictures does NOT equate a good movie and this better not win any non-technical awards at the Oscars.

Slumdog Millionaire
I knew it mofos!!! Slumdog swept the Golden Globes and hopefully it will follow suit at the oscars if the Academy knows what is good.
I gave that movie the "Annika stamp of approval," which is no small feat might i say.
So I have seen thus far (Oscar contenders)
Slumdog Millionaire
Milk
Doubt
Curious Case of Ben Button
I still wanna see Gran Torino
The Wrestler???? hmmm, I dunno if I can take watching Mickey Rourke's messed up face for 2 hrs. Why Mickey Why??? I dunno if she kids know this but Mickey Rourke was THE sexiest, hottest bad boy of the 80s. And guess what, he was actually a good actor. But years of alcohol, drug use, and professional boxing messed up his face bad (especially the boxing). He tried to fix his face up through plastic surgery but it only made it worse. What the guy used to look like...
Anyways, he seems to have redeemed himself, so I commend him. But I still feel Penn should walk away with the oscar. But I haven't seen Rourke's performance so my opinion doesn't really mean anything lol

WORST MOVIE OF 2008...
The award goes to...
Drum Roll...
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button!!!
Congrats Brad Pitt! You once again delivered one of the most lifeless, emotionless, and wooden performances I have ever seen!!!
Can't ride on your good looks forever Arm Pitt... (Though I must say he was quite fine in the film :S )
(Okay, obviously it wasn't THE WORST movie of '08. I'm sure there was some god-awful Jessica Simpson movie that was made. But I say it's the worst movie that was hyped to be "great")
An analysis of TCCOBB will come shortly.
Please people, do not waste your money on this disappointing, gimmicky, stinker.

Sex and the City
Recently I watched all the episodes of SATC. I love that show. But most of all, I am a huge fan of Carrie & Big.
I wanted to share my favorite moments with them.
I Heart NY
Carrie and Big dance to Moon River. I think this is their softest and most romantic moment of the show, esp since Carrie just finds out Big is leaving NY to go to CA.
Ex and the City
If you have not seen the movie, The Way We Were, with Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand, you will not understand the pure greatness of this scene. I really recommend it. It's probably one of the most realistic/sad romantic movies...about how love is just not enough to sustain a relationship, no matter how deep the love may be.
The Drought
Carrie farts! So funny
