Okay, I am very frustrated right now after engaging in a very long political debate with someone.
For me, as a woman, the abortion issue is something I feel VERY strongly about. To deny a woman's right to choice is essentially a reversal of over 50 yrs of women rights. Because when it really comes down to it, I am defined by my sexuality first and foremost. When people first see me, the first judgment they make is that I am a female. Second, I am a minority.
So as a woman, for a man or government to tell me what I cannot do this with MY body is a complete insult and slap in the face.
I know, from birth, I already face obstacles males do not.
No one is for abortion. It is not an easy choice, but it is a woman's choice, regardless or whether anyone feels it is right or wrong.
Prop 8 is another issue, but I am too tired and drained right now to discuss it. -_-
It just infuriates me by how America deems itself the land of freedom, a place for opportunity and equality for all, a progressive, modern society. But yet, we are so far from that truth people. We have never had a woman president like many other leading industrial nations. We are the only industrial democracy without some form of gov. guaranteed universal health care (not that I am necessarily for it). But European democracies have had it since the late 19th century, yet we now in the 21st c is still fighting back and forth over it. blah blah blah etc etc etc.
And to top it all off, our economy sucks, Dow Jones just dropped another 900 points, unemployment is expected to go up 1.5% by just the end of the year, we are in a disaster war, we are a laughingstock to the rest of the world, and we've got McCain and Palin running on a joke platform- and to think people will be voting for them!!

Hahaha, you were arguing with me over politics.... but I still love you. Agreed by the way, to everything you just said. NO ON PROP 8 and 4. Yeah!!
dude...we may have our pitfalls with issues like abortion and gay rights, but we still have a lot more freedoms than other countries. And as for absolute freedom??? That would be anarchy so of course we're never going to have that. Not to pick another political fight, especially with you, but i think we should be proud (not complacent though) of the freedoms we do have.
